headspin

song of the week....

All I want to say
is you’re the sattellite in my life
You don’t have to lie
You don’t have to cry anymore

Lost inside your eyes
The vision never dies
Oh just take my hand
or float and never land

Then I hear you say
“Let’s live for the moment this time”
Then you want to keep me forever
Why don’t you just make up your mind

You make my head spin
You make my head spin
Why, why do you...

eat your heart out:)

oh yeaaaaahhhh....nomad forever. Posted by Picasa

the time is now..

learnt of this set of 'irony-driven' sardonic masterpieces through arthur's blog. more recent shuffling through the archives led me to this:

the aptness of it is almost too strong...
more brilliance here.

Best of Jaipur: September 2006

Jaipur...

The past is a ghost, the future a dream, and all we ever have is now.

dC is back from jaipur. this picture, a classic to be added to my collection - was taken from atop the Narhargarh fort that crowns the hill in the northwest corner of the old city..
this guy had the best seat in the house, overlooking the pink city flanked by hills on both sides and a lake on its heels. power, valour, pure impressario,

a combination of time spent with some very close friends, that time and distance cannot 'distance' ; in a city of such unparalleled beauty and architectural 'royalty' that....well words and pictures can't say enough. Flickr on the right hand corner shall be uploaded and I will try to give as good an account as I can on the sites and scenes of the rajput jewel.

positive people will be positive people, reinforcing my desire to surround myself with individuals with as much ambition, security and joyous outlook on life's every gift as is possible. SM and VJ - it was all I wanted it to be. so good seeing u guys. i love you. as for our future trips, remember my words "make it happen" :)

anew

Anew
Fresh
like the early morning dew
atop freshly cut grass
as I take noticeable care
to brush their blades
and not trod,
mammoth style,
My style.

Anew
Fresh
like the rays
of the late-morning sun
as if accusing
my hungover countenance.
beckoning me firmly
to begin my day.

Anew
Fresh
like the security
of my creators
nestled on the couch
always deep in discussion
always joyous to see
my slightly groggy
supposedly loveable face.

Anew
Fresh
like the acceptance
that we will move on
and new paths shall appear
only to return despondently
on rainy days
when tear-drops and sadness converge.

Anew
Fresh
like the first puff
of my cigarette
momentarily intoxicating,
wisdom Inducing,
solitude delivering
in admirable portions.

Anew
Fresh
we all need something bright not gray
wipe life’s slate clean and pray
weathering experiences define our evolution
but will I see a new today?

made me. made you

made you smile
made you think
made you weep
And I made you grow
swaying,
in the winds of uncertainty
I made you
Held you.

Now you’ve grown
No longer needing
No longer wondering
No longer saying
Things that were once true,

I should have known.

I know now
Of how divine actions…
Create beauty
only to look upon 'it'
in all its glory
now with wings
ready to fly
fly away
for I no longer
hold the answers.

Visions of an empty platform
With muted trains
And empty coaches
Moving across the landscape
Moving across me
they don't stop.
For I am invisible.
I begin to wave
Frantically,
turning into a tunnel
gone.
with the smattered fog.

I awake from the nightmare
Sprawled across
the disheveled bed
much too big
and yet much too small
to envelope my longing.

There be no such pain
as a love no longer apt.
as a love
no longer imminent.

advaita- a new devotion

Advaita is a psychedelic fusion band based in New Delhi, India. As our name suggests, (an ancient Indian philosophy), the band has a spiritual dimension, which runs through our work.
Advaita’s musical soundscape is created by the interplay of the western instruments like guitars, drums and keyboards with the traditional Indian flavour of the Sarangi, tabla and Hindustani classical vocals.

We also add to this brew some experimentation with electronically produced sounds.

I promised to blog about this and im sticking to it. simply because brilliance of this nature should not go unnoticed and un-spoken of.
Advaita, an 8 member fusion-rock indian band comprising of ex super stars of indian acts such as friday the 13th and them clones; took the stage at the lodhi gardens restaurant last friday.
me and V made the effort after a fairly quick and intense 'knocking' session with my colleagues to rush down for it and boy was it worth the speedy gonzales routine:)
ujjval (extreme left in the picture- and vasu pointed out that he reminded me tremendously of the jaj master, the classical lead singer of the band (1 of 2 lead singers mind you) has trained for nearly 9 years and he was the cutting edge addition to the band. a great set comprising of instrumental pieces, indo-classical rock melodies and ending off with a gutsy remake of 'govinda' (kula shaker); i was screaming like a school girl through the entire thing. the rest of the crowd was more the middle age, post-work chillers so im sure my woohooing was a bit out of place. but ofcourse dC being dC didnt give a flying rats a$$, i can c these guys landing a great recording contract and first hands on their CD are coming to mua.

check out the songs available at the official website here and the next time they are performing (for the delhiites- this friday at IIT), get your rear in gear and get devoted..
the only downside? the band didnt mention a lot of the names of the songs, apart from the 4 I had already heard and sung along to multiple times, I could give my right arm (or maybe V's right arm) to acquire...advaita if you're reading, make it happen :)

many thanks also to doing delhi for letting me know about this in the first place. knowledge is power and power is rocking.
the indian rock talent diversifies and entertains. Posted by Picasa

dC vice.

another killer week. made more so by some very awesome mails and special people calling up from different parts of the world. thanks CC (whoever's idea the cc 05 destiny reunion was:)), cileia and ck.

more basketball, chilling, deep discussions, contemplations, struggling on decisions and new discoveries. also the realization that (thank god)- i have SO still got it:) dont ask what it is ive got, ive just still got it....(once again, i hope 20 years later when i read this i know what it is i was talking about)

highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly advaita's performance on friday night (more on that in the next post) after a fun-round of drinks with my office colleagues. Calibrated is expanding into a number of diverse verticals and the excitement around the same is infectious. New partnerships in areas of clinical research, healthcare and legal services (the latter being my baby) are looking to prove to be areas of tremendous potential....I plan to make a portion of this blog into a legal and knowledge process discussion forum as well, so if interested, keep your eyes pealed on this space. The idea will be to highlight best case practices, provide industrial insights and generally to provide and inspire opinion around wave 2 of the BPO ruckus.

jaipur this weekend. all im going to say is wooooohoooooo! :)

Saw United 93 and miami vice this past week. Both brilliant, must-watch movies in my opinion. The former being a blow-by-blow on the ground account of the events that unfolded on 9/11 from the eyes of the hapless military command base, along with the NY, Boston and Denver air traffic control personnel. The humanization of the terrorists was a significant and gutsy touch, not to mention the heart-wrenching portrayal of the final scenes aboard flight U93. I was moved, and my heart goes out to the unbelievable courage of the men and women aboard that flight.
"lets roll"

Miami Vice. take all you've ever witnessed in regards the gritty, slick cop drama. Wrap it up in aluminum foil and hope that the stray dogs outside eat it before it wilts under the sun.
farrell and fox throw up an absolute epitomy of clinical bad ass undercover portrayals one can hope to see. its not just their raw and unabashed acting, the photography (cutting across miami, cuba and columbia) was to die for. the violence was bloody real (literally), in your face and yet extremely slick. stop and go moments delivered by michael mann left you begging for more and with the soundtrack humming in my ear, I'm singing along to the thrash rock rendition of phil collins classic 'ive been waiting for this moment, all my life....oh lord...'
Gong li was a bit rigid, taking nothing away from the fact that she is unbelievably beautiful transpiring memories of her powerful performance in memoirs....

saturday was dinner at shahanas and lounging at aura with the gang. great fun and ive come to love the claridges as was once in the olden days of midnight sneak outs for coffees and buffets; known only to the gutsy at heart and fearless at will through the law-breaking days in grade school:)

changing lanes.

in a momentary break of wisdom, would god question his creation? would the sculptor find fault in the deformed carcass of moulded clay and mud? why must some things in life be so simple, and others so very hard? why?

why must heart break come to those who have loved so much. let those hearts shatter that never gave, never received. let not my bruised soul be wounded by your balms, but by embraces so secure that I be lost in thier tranquility, soundly asleep with the torrid winds of expectation, of pressure, of longing, of needing - howling around me....never reaching me...

celebrate...

it was a wonderful birthday. it truly was. to celebrate is to look back at years of success, years of happiness, years of creation, years of solidarity, loyalty , trust...in your case, the list is long. to celebrate is to realize that its been a life well lived. as your son, and as your mentee, you give- every single second, minute, day , month and year...you give so much.

its only going to get better. here's to many more wonderful birthdays:) Posted by Picasa

what a day...

a fantastic birthday for a fantastic woman (of which I shall speak of in the next post).
Only befitting that this should reach confirmation status for the future of the creator....congratulations. With the entire Indian business operation expansion under your belt, there could be no better :) Righteous. It has happened...

for me.

Fight for me
Go to war for me.
No guns, no tanks
Come armed
With your eyes , your words.

Many battles I fought
For the sake of your touch
Battered and bruised
I lay in a heap
A bloody heap
that was my ego.
Picking up the pieces
I fought on relentlessly
Till I had my prize,
My joy, my pride,
By my side.

Fight for me
Go to war for me.

Today this fight
Is not against another
But with the most powerful
Of them all
The ‘within’
I fought that battle
And won.

Today I wonder
Would you fight it too?

Would you dare
The darkest demon?
Would you face
The fiercest fear?
Would you stare
In a mirror
With your head held high
Screaming “you deserve to be mine”?

Warnings I give
at the gates
of the battledome
I am neither friend
Nor ally,
I am the enemy
The foe.

Fight for me
Go to war for me.

Face thy insecurity
If im really worth the tears
the bloodshed,
Climb through hell for me.

I’ve been to hell
By your side,
I’ve seen the darkest shade
Of white.
Was not easy
But was worth itall,
I’d do it again
I’d fall the free fall.

Yet,
today I am old,
I am haggard.
Tranquil dreams
Are all I manage,
If this love
Is truly that great..

Fight for me
Go to war for me.

been a long time since I rock and rollaaa

Considering the usual frequency with which I update this beauty, I know its been some time.
Never mind, the wait is worth it.
So looking back at the last week, a lot happened. I wrote a further piece on ‘funeral chants and prayers’ (what I intend to make into a book of short stories comprising of both prose and poetry). It shall be placed on the blog soon for feedback. Considering that the theme is pretty macabre, I advise readers to look at the writing in objective singularity and not create any hyper-adaptive images/thoughts in their head.

Ok, besides that, Rudy’s play ‘a bit on the side’ directed by Amir Raza was a knockout laughothon. The boy has talent oozing out of every cell and the storyline left one begging for more. Set in modern day London , a hospital’s head neurologist is about to deliver the annual lecture when he learns that an affair he had with one of the nurses 18 years ago did in fact create more than just gossip, he has a son whom he didn’t know about. Adding to the comedy of errors is an in-house pantomime, an irate sergeant on the prowl, a slightly clueless matron and ofcourse the trusty sidekick enacted by Amir Raza himself. I was in splits for many parts of the play where comic timing and slapstick delivery mixed perfectly. A rib tickler for sure. The second of Rudy’s plays I’m seeing and this one vastly different from the first which was a smaller production directed by him solely.

The play was followed by an awesome blues performance by Lou Majaw & Ace of Spaces at Haze. A kickass classic rocker with embarassingly tiny shorts, barefoot and accompanied by the most fantastic bass guitar playing one can hope to see up close and personal. Sang aloud to ‘all along the watchtower’ and felt the need to burn them fingers post the initial beers. Me and mr. seth then returned to VV for a 5 hour session of jamming (ill be putting up videos of our new song ‘one burbon, one whiskey and one beer’ soon), admiring lyrics of qawali music and being treated to the best fricking covers of ‘all along the watchtower’ by barbara keith and mazzy star’s version of wild horses. Phenomenal. P.S.- Anyone who reads this has got full permission to find and please send across ‘all along the watchtower’ by Barbara Keith to me at my email address dhruv.chitgo(at)gmail.com. I've been trying to find this song for 2 days now but just cant...Help! I shall reward you, handsomely. And that basically means a handsome person will come see you. That being me. Ok, not much of a reward, but what the hell.

Moving on, Saturday was a marked return to the fabled courts where I’ve dazzled many a crowd in my yesteryears….basketball at the sports complex behind my house (which surprisingly rocked quite hard…the quality of the tennis courts, squash courts, running fields and cricket ground was admirable). After destroying V and G in one on ones that would make T-Mac proud we got a 4 on 4 full court game going. The stamina level (stemming from the daily 2.5 km running) was put to the test and boy I was glad. Seeing vasu sprawled across the court after exactly 7 minutes shouting “dude screw the fallback, I’m fricking dying here” was enough for me to realize that the fitness level needs to be maintained. I made fun of him on how he was 22 going on fricking 40 and V vowed to get cracking at the gym. As always I knew he was full of shit but will do my best to motivate the boy.

Returning home on Saturday night the evening plan to chill at elevate had kind of reduced to sheer chaos and pandemonium. Long story, short moral; never plan for things too much in advance. Something inevitably can/does go wrong. There’s a murphy’s law in there somewhere Im sure. Ended up picking up S and heading to the ‘capitol’ where (after last weekends horror show at climax) the rhythm was most certainly on with micky and amit (resident djs) mixing up some top notch medieval vinyl numbers. Late night conversations ensued with kranti and sethi over all and sundry; the midnight buffet in the foyer area outside capitol providing much needed nourishment....kickass fun.

Slept in late on Sunday followed by reveling in sharapova’s brilliance (and the fact that she is a superman hottie) and pakistan’s terrible batting performance, the rest of the day was spent in ‘pair upar karke’ (that literally means feet up on the table style) relaxing.

Last night was an evening that turned out to be much much more warm and fun-filled than I imagined. Mal is back in town for a week (short break from his MBA) and consequently KG decided to throw a dinner scene at her place to bring some close friends together. Met with SP which is always nice and enjoyed KGs dad’s unbelievable hospitality. I don’t think there was even one point during the evening where I wasn’t being fed (literally) or being provided with any allowance of an empty glass. This ofcourse playing one of the key roles in the slightly hungover Dhruv of this morning. Never mind, 3 coffees and a litre of water fixed that.

Back to the evening…discussions flew from work and what old friends and seniors of mine in college were upto, to marveling at the awesome relationship AM and KG share (I cannot frickin believe they are going to get married next year) to discussing ‘snakes on skewers’ in Beijing and the various sites and destinations of choice to visit in Macau. Good fun, good memories made. Dang I should have taken some pictures.

The last week brought news of epic proportions. For one half of the creators, the move to ‘T’ seems nothing short of strikingly imminent. Such excitement, such challenges - worthy of a man of his ability and dedication. The new environment will suit him and I can’t wait to be part of this next phase. I once spoke of righteousness and how it envelopes every life no matter the state of good, evil or unintended existence. As you sow, so you may reap. Cheers.

Truly epic, she has once again rocked, and shall continue the conquest of the nation of domination. A fantastic next step, proved the critics wrong and got exactly what was needed. Return to the motherland one month in advance. Switzerland loses the cuteness, India readies itself to embrace the darling. With open arms I might add. Can someone give me exact dates please? Someone please respond. Anxiety accompanies the excitement. Where do we go now?

I booked my tickets to Jaipur btw. SM and VJ if you’re reading this- I missed you guys and there is much to catch up on. Arrival in Jaipur on Friday the 22nd and departure shall be the 24th. Midnight conversations, coffee, hanging around the pink city, laughter over those 8 months, toasts to success and good health. It’s all happening. DC is coming to ya. Im coming to ya.

IC is over, the news, reviews and tales lay claim to the fact that it rocked pretty damn hard. Cheers to everyone who was there, you certainly did your best to make us wish we were there. I didn’t miss it all that much though hahahahaha.

oh and sidps got a blog. im still not confident in him posting anything of worth, but omg, if he does get posting- im sure itll be brilliant (this assuming that verbal and body language based humour can get converted into written scripts with ease)

Today is also bhie’s bday. My baby sister, at one point my mentee , and a good friend who has come a long way. Here’s wishing you a great day full of happiness and loads of laughter. Knowing you, I bet there’s lots of laughter and happiness to everyone in your company. I hope you get some back as well.....

Chalo bas. Now it is time to go. have a good day/week you guys.

what we do up there

For you. I wish i could be there to recite the lines in my best tom skerritt voice...but i hope this serves as an apt substitute:

Viper: I won't blow sunshine up your ass.
A good pilot is compelled to evaluate what's happened -

- And apply what he's learned. Up there, we've got to push it. That's ourjob.

It's your option, Lieutenant. All yours.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charlie: You're one of the best pilots in the Navy.
What you do up there... It's dangerous. But you've got to go on.

Maverick: You don't understand.

Charlie:When I first met you, you were larger than life. Look at you. You're not gonna be happy unless you're going Mach 3 with your hair on fire.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The beauty of Top Gun has always been that either which way, they were right, thats possibly the best damn advice you can get from a super-macho, 80s dude flick with motorcycles and fighter pilots...

either which way...its going to be alright....

'cowercive' affection...

Reuters reports:

Keep your distance. Avoid eye contact. And even if it looks cute, never hug a Swiss cow.

Responding to numerous "reports of unpleasant meetings between hikers and cattle" along Switzerland's picture-perfect Alpine trails this summer, the Swiss Hiking Federation has laid down a few ground rules.

"Leave the animals in peace and do not touch them. Never caress a calf," the group's guidance, posted on the website www.swisshiking.ch, reads.

Now that I think about it, I do remember Zuzka warning me against an incredible urge to get cozy with them atop the wengen.

this line is the killer though:
"new rearing practices, where the animals spend less time around farmers and wander in pastures with little human interaction, were partly to blame for the anti-social behaviour."

switzerland you little beauty:)

september

In Latin, septem means "seven". The origin of the name may also be attributed to Vedic culture. In sanskrit, Sapta refers to "seven" and Ambar means "sky". "Sapt-Ambar" referred to the seventh sky or month in the Vedic culture. September was also the seventh month of the Roman calendar until 153 BC.

an important month for many around me. you know who you are. some important events, a birthday of tremendous significance. the beginnings of what will be the best months of weather that the capital has to offer. weather and festivities I have been away from for 2 years. not this year, dC in the midst of the colorful chaos, engagements, weddings and more.
jaipur in the last week of this month, countdown to an ambiguous date in october marking a long-awaited return.

the last weekend of august was marked with the pleasurable company of shahana, bheesh and shivani (friends stretching back to school and college days)...
it rained and poured down with much vengeance (possibly due to essentially dry months of july and august) on saturday...still couldnt keep me away from 'climax' which wasn't all that worth checking out- the lush green view from their various balconies being the only respite.

on a different note, the RSJ(rock street journal for the uninitiated- indias' answer to rolling stone magazine) continues its assault on the senses with some phenomenal rock acts through the month of september which I shall surely get down to witnessing...the entire listing can be found here

random mails from kalra still have me rollicking with laughter and shikul has been missing in action for ages now. the course must be deadly time consuming....

a long chat with N last night consistently left a smile on my face. that was nice. stories from IC had me reminiscing, remarking, joking and laughing away. some things never change. thank u, the imagery was vivid and heart felt.

september 05 i just landed in switzerland. september 05 i just finished IC. its been one year.
holy crap.
