Behind me, is the stunning lake geneva, a set of churches and well defined buildings and the hills from where 'France' commences. Gotta tell you, it was a breath of fresh air and a sight for sore eyes:)  Posted by Picasa

i love pathways like this one, defines europe and its beautiful winding ways :)... this particular road leading to the geneva university. Posted by Picasa

great thinkers of the past and the present....this is a fantastic park to visit with statues of Calvin and others punctuating the stretch....ofcourse, im thinking 'which turn did I take for that delicious falafel- all this walking is making me hungry'  Posted by Picasa

killer pic with me next to the lake geneve and the famous fountain that sprays some 400 odd metres in the air i believe. This was a particularly sunny day, so the atmosphere complimented it :)..people walking around having a good time doing their own thing... Posted by Picasa

geneve'

Workplace number 2 :
Geneva
...jewelled by the beautiful lake geneve' that I see through a window every morning en route from bern ; this is undoubtedly the most cosmopolitan and international of all the cities in switzerland. With over 50% of it's population being expats and internationals; youve got to love the joy of people speaking francais all around you. Now im not making an effort to learn this language as well, but its hellishly fun to keep reciting 'Gare cornavin' and 'chatela'ine ecole' ..hahaha...the cheap thrills of a different country...
by the way i had a falafel sandwich on monday, it was delicious!, thanks sathe for the tip, although i think i was lucky enough to have stumbled upon what is considered to be the best falafel place in the city. Also got to visit the geneva university, gosh now this is the kind of place i can see people getting some learning....no wonder people end up taking 5 years to finish their courses...its a blast to balance out ones education with some practical experience cos both have so much to offer without draining one of their sanity.....also visited the famed @ in geneva office:)...the thrill of visiting an aiesec set up in any part of the world is still wonderful:)
some intense sight seeing and exploring shall be done over the coming 6 months here...pictures coming up to help the imagination process :)

Meine tage unterwegs in Berne

like what do i say...i walked 3 hours today- more than i have done intentionally over the past year and a half. DC's mental note number 1- I am going to get into some kickass shape by the end of this swiss experience....

Well enough chit chat- check out above: masti happening....from chillin on the monbijou bridge overlooking the parliament- to chillin with my new teammate Sabi over the river 'Aare' ...

The Swiss are also remarkably creative people ive realized- there aint no beach and there aint no waves, but this dude below has tied a long rope to a tree next to the river brook and is rocking the party...innocent bystanders are treated to some fairly docile surfing action:)...you have to marvel at the weekend thrills though. (pic above)

Bern is the city of 'Bears' and the logo of the town proves it....
Theres a killer bear pit with these adorable animals lounging (around 4 of them including a collosal papa bear) .... move over 'gaya mata' (i.e lord cow)....the bernese bear is the new king :) (pic above)

had a killer day walking around in bern today....also yesterday - believe it or not i learnt that all swiss trains have a certain 'silent' compartment. where you cant speak, no cell phones allowed and any sort of verbosity is frowned upon intensely. Theres even a sign at the entry to the compartment with a 'finger on the lips'....now thats cool:)
Bern is beautiful, i mean scenic and very postcardish...visited the bern university as well and had lunch on a gorgeous elevated market area. Names fail me now, but pictures shall be uploaded soon.

19/9/2005- ramblings

:)...nothing like the feeling of picking up some kickass pc games for some unending and deafening action and 3d gaming for the vacation. IN this case ofcourse the vacation has been 3 weeks of eating (read gorging), chilling, working ( a bit),shopping like a maniac and chillin some more...met up with some old friends- certified once again that delhi does not know how to party and does not know the meaning of a good time. 'Aqua' the new 'out of this world' club sucked so bad that I almost felt like I had come to some pimps wedding. Overly (read hardly) dressed men and women garishly parading for no apparent reason in a 500 ft radius where the only thing exciting about it was the hussle and tussle of getting into the damn place. Drinks and getting a bite to eat were beyond reach - almost shocking i think for some of the 'clubbers' (read idiots)
Delhi needs to learn something from bombay so badly- i should have followed my gut instinct and continued to be the old foggie again- and gone to TCs..atleast the masti would have been to the max...
anyway, now that im out with that frustration...back to the 2 killer time wasters i picked up= Prince of Persia sands of time and Max Payne 2(now I know they are old, but boy are they fun)....
been playing and thoroughly enjoying myself. i land in zurich on the 23rd at approximately (2pm) (swiss time)....
also went to the german embassy today, unfortunately didnt get my schengen and have been informed that i need to get it from switzerland itself- which is a pain in the ass- hope i can take out the time....
also....prague plan is being finalized....it sounds like a killer blast...DG is going to be in netherlands, KS in Belgium NP with mua in switzie land, AD in sweden...the list goes on...gang banger CC club is all over the european heartland so meeting up should happen with efficiency. CHeers to danka my sweet for playing OCP and executing this enthralling recap of kajra re type shenanigans!

is this cool or what:)

Mail from my boss in the UNFPA- directions for the office:)

If you come by train, you will arrive at Gare des Cornavin. You can take bus number 6 or 19 direction Vernier from the bus stop called "22 Canton". To get to the bus stop, walk out of the main entrance at the train station, turn right and you will have the bus stop to your left when you reach the first traffic lights (no more than 100 meters walk). Your bus ticket costs 3 CHF and can be purchased at the machine by the bus stop.
Get off at "Chatelaine Ecole". Walk up to the traffic lights and turn right.
Walk for about 100 meters and our office is on the right hand side (the building that has got a UN flag outside).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday- 26th september, chitgo heads to geneva:) - UNFPA beckons....
and this after what i expect to be a killer weekend (as zuska calls it- a swissification for the token indian that I am: - somewhere somehow i know trent is laughing when I say this)

The countdown is ticking ladies and gentleman....t minus 4 before i hit hoppschwitz!

conceived, believed, achieved.

sitting at the jaypee palace business center - its 1:30 in the afternoon on the 7th of september 2005....this place is earily quiet, no sounds of AI, bustling facilitators and sessions combined with the dull drone of photocopying anywhere. the marvel that is the 5 star hotel industry has wiped clean any sign of the largest youth congregation independant india has ever seen...and it feels a bit- surreal.
Last night we sat back , drank beer and talked, thanked, and talked some more. we shared amongst the cc the great bonds and the great experiences we all take back from this magical country and i sat in wonder at how much this actually gave to me as well.
the 10 days went by within a blink of the eye....cliched as it may sound...but i feel so damn righteous( yeah i know that word is overly abused by me) ....the results of it all will be out in the next 2 weeks when I shall personally announce the spoils of 'war' (in my case funds raised leading to surplus and partnerships signed for the future) ....as of now....conceived , believed and achieved...and made an amazing bunch of friends from across the world right side by side....now thats a feeling of true worth.

righteous III

Dear Dhruv,

A big "Thank you" to you, and the entire AIESEC team for making my visit to the AIESEC International Congress a truly memorable one.

It is difficult to find words to express what I felt at the end of the two-and-a-half days that I spent with all of you at Agra. I was impressed by the level of professionalism with which the entire event has been organized by AIESEC. And while I was absolutely fascinated by the cultural diversity that I witnessed there, I was equally amazed by the depth of understanding, sensitivity, cooperation, coordination and unity among all the members.

Please thank your entire team from me, for ensuring a really comfortable stay for me at Agra. Interacting with all of you has been a heartwarming experience and will remain in my memory for the rest of my life.

Warm regards,

Anil
