the b-day
It started off the night before…as I left for T’s place somewhere past 10 I could hear the giggling and shuffling around in the other room. I knew something was up but wasn’t expecting to see the creators standing in the middle of the study with a brightly lit (and delicious) cake that said ‘happy birthday duvy’ :)…23 and still a child. Awesome.
The cards and the adorable wooden frame with my favorite picture in it, sits happily by my bed now.
I slept, in the comfort and tranquility of an intense week gone by, a successful year celebrated with professional and personal happiness and courageous choices.
The calls came from across the world. Singapore, Switzerland, Pakistan, Germany and various parts of the Indian sub-continent. The emails reverberated across the simplistic gmail interface as I smiled with the knowledge of good friends..
Returning home from work, I was relaxed , but not overly excited at the thought of my day coming to and end. Yes, still an attention seeking 2 year old.….I get a flat and am cursing the gods for giving me one on my special day. I’m wearing a new Givo shirt too, and it’s getting muddy with every yank of the jack and twist of the bolt on the fabled chariot.
The flat was a blessing in disguise I learn later.
I return home, eager to get upstairs and check my mail, put up on some music and generally do the little dance thingy I do (a mix of head banging and rural style salsa- its better understood when actually viewed). I open the door to see this

,except with 23 candles on it. I think ‘awwwwwwww’
It couldn’t have been more than 3 seconds…., T, T and G burst out of my bathroom yelling surprise! my hale and hearty pulmonary muscle almost did a double take.
They drove across an hour and a half, faced the demons that are the Gurgawa roads and executed the perfect whammy….Thank you guys. The day pretty much took off from there. .

We sat and joked around, I showed off my room- the girls were impressed (I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing) and we made plans for the coming weekend for more celebrations.
The evening was capped off with a wonderful dinner with the creators at the trident. Not physical discomfort, nor vulnerability came in the way for the love of one’s scion. Thank you.
23 years of unchallenged rule have now come to pass. The kingdom of van chitgough erupts with drunken overtones of the power that has been this monarchy. Maturity now reigns, never forgetting however, the rampaging omnipotence of the yesteryears….The balance of ching and chang (my version of ying and yang) is summoned and delivered, consistently.
Bring on number 24, for if all I’m given in this mortal existence is one life; then by jolly, I’m going to live the hell out of it.
Cheers ladies and gentleman. Cheers.
