hello , im johnny cash

ok so quite frankly, the only real thing I knew about Johnny cash was through memories of grade school headbanging on KidRock's killer rendition of 'Sad But true' (his version being called american badass with a complete overhaul of the lyrics)which had a line going " I like Johnny cash and grandmaster flash".
sooo , at that point i figured johnny cash was probably the perfect homegrown american boy making soulful country and rock music.

flash forward to 2 days ago:) went to see 'walk the line' and quite simply- loved the movie. reasons? phoenix delivers a stellar performance with some incredible acting and the onscreen chemistry with reese witherspoon was brilliant. the music fit in quite nicely with the movie (although its most certainly not my type) and the presence of jerry lee lewis and elvis in comedic tid bits is heart warming and exciting all at the same time. those were some incredible times....

the direction was powerful with the use of close ups and deep expression capture being the hallmark of what is often a rather intense depiction of cash's drug addiction.
overall id give it a 9/10 for sure and reccommend it to any cine-goers with some semblance of taste.
my favorite line in the movie btw: (when johnny cash is making his comeback and has gotten inspired from the millions of letters he receives from his first place of work- "fullson prison")

Music producer: what's with all the black, are you going to a funeral?"
Johnny Cash : (dressed completely in black with dark sunglasses) "maybe i am"

u shud hear Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nail's "Hurt"

its brilliant...and the video is kind of haunting

will do fazesh...
and btw, will u be in mumbai in may/june??

Dude.... The lyrics of Hurt were written for Cash to sing it...

Actually.. take a shot at the entire album of "American IV: The Man Comes Around" - his last. He essentially interpreted other artists work in his own style and voice.

His version of 'Desperado' will choke you up....

yeah i shud be in bbay during may/june

if i'm in pune..i can always come down to bbay
