fidelity for thought...
finished reading high fidelity a few days back, and have to admit-the book depressed the living hell out of me in various parts. sure its funny, ironic, sardonic and very very british - the book brought out some low points whch reminded me of disturbing thoughts linked only to when i think i was 16. the main protagnonist reminded me terribly of how we used to assume and look at relationships post puberty, and the fact that he's 35 and still going strong was scary....
a well written book nonetheless and certainly an interesting read- ive heard the movie is quite good as well and jack black plays the role of 'barry' who is undoubtedly my favorite character in the book :) ...
what i did like about the book though is the way nick hornby has brought out the vague insecurities that exist in the main character, and the honest yet feeble attempts to address and communicate them....men are strange for sure and at times i think more complex than we let ourselves imagine and admit....read the book, you'll know why im waxing eloquent like dr. phil in oprah....
anyway....on other news, still need to finish an equal music, the wave of depressing books doesnt stop:) but vikram seth writes so bloody beautifully..hard to resist...and in a meeting with the ceo of an awesome company called getAbstract ; me and my bro CK got 2 year free subscriptions of access to the summarized best of published works in every conceivable field - from management to economics to modern literature to philosophy...its a party! It looks like an extremely interesting market that these guys are looking to get a stronghold of worlwide- and what's even cooler? we raised an AIESEC iNternship with them for 1 year starting february 2006...rock on:)
tori. the bubbly powerhouse President of AIESEC in Pakistan arrived yesterday, ripun today. and the rest of the facis all start streaming in over the weekend- so excitement builds big time....DO-IT approaches babayyyyyy....
