crowded heavens..

well, easily one of the best 'speakers' ive had the priveleage of witnessing, dr. chitgopekar (aka van chitgough's mom) delivered a most enlightening talk on religion (focus on hinduism) and the diversity and excitement of divinities that 'rule' the ideologies of a major mass of this fantastic country. The talk , delivered to my newly extended and highly delightful congress committee team was undoubtedly a good change from the norm (which is basically mind numbingly back breaking work) and this is an official thanks to her for delivering what was a well balanced and nicely encapsulated look at religion and it's impact on various aspects of Indian society.

it was unfortunate that i was half in a coma, i have to say the talk got me most energized and the reaction of a lot of the CC proved that this is one topic noone can deny, least of all ignore.
Pictures shall be uploaded soon:) and I can now imagine why half the planet flocks at her feet on what is easily her expertise and interest.
Her next book, for those who are interested (published by penguin) is going to be a fantastic look at Lord Siva in the form of a biography- the twist being that it is explored from the eyes of various other divinities that came into contact with him (Lord Parvati, ganesa, Vishnu etc etc)....look out for this space for details on the launch and access online....
to love something as much as this, and to have the pleasure of actually disseminating it young people across the world is a job worth those of high commitment and certainly great skill...hats off to you mom:)

Dhruv, your Mum sure must be one hell of a woman to get such a public commendation from her adoring son! All the best with your new job role...

Love, Aunty Rose - Pierre's Mum

Rose

Sounds fascinating to me. Could you recommend any of your mom's books, or all, to people seeking to explore the Indian heritage and better understand exactly what you talked about above. thanks!

Totally agree that teaching has to be the best job in the world. There's no better feeling in sharing ideas about what you love with other people who are equally passionate about it.
Met this absolutely fascinating professor or Law and Human Rights here in Beijing from Ireland and I plan on sneaking in on some of his classes whenever I can! Good teachers are hard to find - but when you find them - don't let them go!!!

I hope I can do it someday too!

surya,
will let you know of when this latest book on lord siva is released...its the one im most looking forward to. Till then grab a 'dekho' of 'The Book of Durga' on Penguin Publications by Nilima Chitgopekar... most certainly a nice read.

To Peirre's Mum from Dhruv's Dad:

I suppose we are obliged to sometimes live our lives vicariously thru our children, otherwise I shud have easily said "To Rose from Deepak" !!!.

Yes, we are proud of Dhruv's acheivements and feel life is more than worth it when we see our childrens progress in life. Happiness !!!!
